Len & Patti Find Real Trains For Film

Yesterday Patti and I went to Wellington, OH to take a ride on the Leviathan steam engine that was in town for a visit. David Kloke is the builder of this engine as well as the York engine located at the Steam Into History Museum in New Freedom, PA. http://steamintohistory.com So why did we go? I have had a number of conversations with John Riggle at Steam Into History about using their engine in our film Engineering Tragedy. New Freedom is only 45 minutes away from Strasburg, PA where we will be doing a lot of our filming with the wooden train cars they have. http://www.strasburgrailroad.com/ Steam into History has agreed to be in the film, but now I needed to find one more engine willing to join. Plus, we needed to have different smoke stacks built for each engine so they looked like the Columbia and Socrates. That's where master mechanic David Kloke, the ower of the Laviathan steam engine and Kloke Locomotive Works comes in. http://leviathan63.com/ After my visit with David he agreed all of this would be possible and he would like to talk with me more about it and see if we can figure out what the costs of doing this would be. It would sure be great if we could get both engines to Strasburg and recreate the look of the Pacific Express for this film. Here is a video I found on Youtube that shows the two engines together in New Freedom, PA this last November. Note the painted colors of these engines match our model train so they would be perfect! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dxwFbk1qyc
